Sarah Stokes

From the "Canterbury Immigrants" programme.

Sarah tells of leaving her village in Leicestershire, England

and travelling to Canterbury, New Zealand,

as one of the Assisted Immigrants on the First Four Ships.

 

Rosalia Gierszewski

Rosalia is a German Polish immigrant from West Prussia.

She and Jan began work in Pigeon Bay, clearing land.

They were able to supplement their income by hunting, fishing and harvesting cocksfoot.

Eventually they settled in Marshalnds.
